Media Production Audio Technician

  • Technical Support role with the Academic Operations Unit

About the Role 
Our Academic Operations Unit is seeking a Media Production Audio Technician to join the team. This role is responsible for providing a high level of technical support for teaching in higher education where this expertise is required as well as providing support for university staff.

You will provide expert technical advice, support and training to university staff and students as well as support specific facilities including digital media equipment store / loans office, production orientated classrooms, recording suites and studios. The role focuses on supporting audio production and post-production, but also works with other production equipment, software, and related technologies. 

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • High level technical ability / experience with audio production and post-production pathways and workflow within cinema, television, live/event, and digital imaging industries.
  • Broad knowledge of audio equipment used in film and television production including field recorders, wireless systems, microphones, mixers (both analogue and digital), timecode equipment and studios.
  • Experience servicing and repairing audio equipment.
  • Experience with professional post-production hardware and software, specifically systems from AVID. Ability to install and configure mixing desks, surround-sound speaker systems, sound interfaces, microphones, and related audio equipment.

Qualifications
Tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or extensive relevant work experience in the audio area of the media production industry or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
