TASCAM has announced the return of the LA-40MKIII and LA-80MKII line level converters, updated and designed to bridge the gap between professional and consumer audio equipment in providing signal conversion and routing options for recording studios, broadcast facilities, streaming environments, and commercial AV installations.
The LA-40MKIII offers four channels of bi-directional balanced-to-unbalanced and vice versa line level conversion. Levels ranging from between balanced professional +4 dBu/-20 dBu and consumer -10 dBV unbalanced signal create the opportunity for integration. In addition to signal conversion, the LA-40MKIII can act as a distribution amplifier allowing a single source to be fed to multiple outputs, which is well suited for multi-zone audio routing or multi-recorder feeds.
Expanding on the LA-40MKIII’s channel count is the LA-80MKII with eight channels of signal conversion and audio distribution functionality. Both models have front panel signal indicator lights, channel-by-channel trim controls for more precise leveling. The addition of ground lift switches helps to minimize noise from ground loops while the compact 1U rack mount design provides a small footprint in studios and AV situations.
