TASCAM has introduced two rackmount power management products for professional audio and AV installations: the AV-P2803 power conditioner with sequencer and AV-P5015N power distribution unit with intelligent network management. Both provide power distribution and controlled startup and shutdown, with the AV-P5015N adding network-based monitoring and remote control.
The AV-P2803 is a 15A power distribution unit, UL de-rated to 12A, with six switched rear outlets, three timing stages, and two unswitched outlets on the front and rear panels. Its sequencing function provides selectable delays for controlled power-up and shutdown. Surge protection, EMI/RFI filtering, and a voltage display provide additional power management and monitoring. Dedicated control terminals allow up to 10 units to be daisy chained for larger installations.
The AV-P5015N provides eight NEMA 5-15R outlets with IP-based monitoring and control. Its web interface provides access to outlet status, voltage, current, power consumption, and environmental data when used with the optional EA1240 temperature and humidity sensor. Individual outlets can be configured for power-on and power-off delays, while scheduling functions support automated power operation and rebooting.
An Auto Ping function monitors network activity and can automatically reboot connected equipment in remote or unattended installations. Event logs and Syslog support are also included for maintenance and troubleshooting.
“Power management is the basis for everything in an installation,” says Sean Daily, TASCAM product specialist. “Nothing in our setup will work without power, so having comprehensive, protective and reliable solutions should be forefront in all our minds and, indeed our racks.”
Both units use a 1U rack mount chassis and are intended for applications including conference rooms, digital signage, broadcast, commercial AV, and installed sound.
