DiGiCo has introduced the Quantum638, a new digital mixing console combining elements of its SD7 and SD5 platforms with its latest Quantum technology, with an optional Quantum638T version adding features for theatrical productions, including musicals, plays and touring shows.
The console offers 256 input channels, 128 aux/sub-group buses and a 48×48 processed matrix. Its surface has three 17-inch touchscreens, 38 motorized faders arranged across three sections, two dedicated Master faders and enhanced Macro controls. Available in single- and dual-engine configurations, both versions include dual DMI card slots and hot-swappable power supplies.
Designed for applications where space and workflow are important, the Quantum6 38 has a footprint similar to the SD7. Additional features include three 6.8-inch TFT displays, assignable rotary encoders, an InfoBar for monitoring snapshots, timecode and system status, and dual headphone outputs.
The optional theatre software extension adds Auto Update, Aliases, Players, advanced CG programming tools and Matrix Nodal Delays. The console also includes 128 Nodal Processing instances, 64 insertable Mustard Processing strips, 16 Spice Rack slots and True Solo functionality. Onboard Dante and a built-in Fourier Interface Card provide additional connectivity, including compatibility with Fourier Audio’s transform.engine platform.
The dual-engine version can also operate in single-engine mode, giving users flexibility in configuring system redundancy.
The console includes LR, LCR, LCRS and 5.1 Master busses, 36 VCA-style or mute group-style control group channels, two solo busses and an internal effects rack with 34 effects. Users can add up to 48 stereo effects, including reverbs, delays, chorus, pitch and enhancement processing. An additional bank of 32 32-band graphic EQs is also available.
Connectivity includes 32-bit mic/line inputs, eight 32-bit line outputs, AES/EBU I/O, GPI/GPO, MIDI, SMPTE LTC, four switched Ethernet ports and eight sets of MADI I/O. Each engine also includes a MultiMode Optocore interface, supporting 504 additional audio paths at 48 or 96 kHz, with an optional second Optocore loop available to expand capacity.
The worksurface measures 1,555 x 957 x 535 mm and weighs 93 kg.
