Tasmanians aged 18 and over who want to build a career behind the scenes in live music are invited to apply for the 2026 WES Pathways to Jobs in Live Music Tasmania program.
Delivered by CrewCare with support from Arts Tasmania and Music Australia, the program will give approximately 20 emerging and underrepresented crew practical training, direct industry connections and a supported pathway into paid live music work.
The Tasmania program follows the successful delivery of Pathways to Jobs in Live Music in New South Wales in 2025, where 20 participants trained with leading production suppliers and moved into supervised paid industry placements.

Paid placements: Supervised industry placements will follow the training program
What You’ll Learn
Participants will gain practical exposure to key areas of live production, including:
- Audio and sound production
- Lighting
- Video and led
- Rigging and staging
- Backline and stage operations
- Workplace expectations, safety and professional standards
The program will include introductory training across several areas, followed by more focused training. Applicants will be asked to nominate their preferred areas, but final training allocations will depend on participant numbers, course capacity, trainer availability and scheduling.
What You’ll Receive
- Free, hands-on industry training in Hobart
- $100 stipend for each required training day, up to seven days
- A supervised paid industry placement of up to 80 hours
- Travel and accommodation assistance for eligible regional participants
- Connections with Tasmanian production companies, venues, suppliers, trainers and employers
- Ongoing support from CrewCare throughout training and placement
Who Can Apply
The program is designed for Tasmanians who are interested in starting or developing a career in live music production. Applicants must:
- Be aged 18 years or older
- No longer be enrolled in secondary or high school
- Be available to attend the required training in hobart
- Have a genuine interest in working behind the scenes in live music
- Be willing to participate in a supervised paid industry placement after training
Applications are encouraged from early-career crew, recent graduates and people who have not previously had a clear pathway into the industry. Women, First Nations people, culturally diverse applicants, people with disability, regional Tasmanians and others underrepresented in technical production are strongly encouraged to apply.
