Solid State Logic Launches New Acoustifier Plugin

Solid State Logic has announced Acoustifier, a new D.I.-to-microphone simulation plugin designed to transform an acoustic guitar D.I. signal into a studio-quality recording.

By emulating the sound of a dual-microphone setup, Acoustifier is able to enhance a dry guitar tone with its D.I.-to-microphone modelling and onboard EQ, compression, and reverb. It’s available perpetually at an introductory price of US$49 (worth $99), or as part of the expanding Complete Access Bundle subscription from US$19.99 per month.

Acoustifier’s tone modeling allows users to select their guitar body type with a choice between three classic microphone styles. By matching the guitar to the appropriate acoustic body type, user can achieve an authentic DI-to-mic simulation.

There’s a choice four acoustic guitar models: two dreadnought variations, a jumbo/large body, and a concert/orchestra model. This allows users to sculpt studio-quality acoustic tones, captured using a choice of three classic microphone types: dynamic, condenser, or ribbon. A range of mic configurations are also available, including XY and spaced pair setups, with the option to blend body and neck microphone signals.

Acoustifier includes a built-in EQ and real-time frequency analyzer. At its core is a quick-access tilt band, well-suited for shifting the tonal balance toward the high or low end. For added control, Acoustifier’s EQ also has high-pass and low-pass filters, along with three customizable mid bands to fine-tune tone. All adjustments are made via a node-based EQ graph that has a frequency analyzer for real-time visual feedback.

An onboard reverb engine adds depth, space, and realism to dry guitar signals. Derived from SSL FlexVerb’s reverbalgorithms, it offers a curated selection of room, chamber, plate, and hall reverb types. Also included is an integrated reverb ducking feature, a dynamic control the reduces the reverb level in response to the guitar, whether sourced from the D.I. path, a pre-reverb tap, or an external sidechain.

Acoustifier also has an integrated compressor section, offering dynamics that range from subtle smoothing to aggressive tone shaping. The Auto-Gain feature level-matches user adjustments, helping to dial in dynamic control. For added flexibility, a dedicated Mix control allows quick parallel compression blending. And, the compressor can be placed post-reverb, providing more control over the processed signal within a mix.
