Historical tunnel revives with projection fabric

A long-abandoned tunnel now hums with life, its interior coming to life with moving images and textures. This collaboration between ShowTex and Novatech Creative Event Technology merges custom projection surfaces with historical footage to guide visitors through its many past lives.

Translucent PVC fabric for vivid art space

After 150 years of silence, the old Sleeps Hill Tunnel stirs. Its brick walls, once dark and forgotten, now glow with light, motion and precisely chosen fabrics. Along the curved interior, sixteen custom projection screens shimmer, each made from translucent PVC fabric for sharp contrast.

Every surface stands 110 cm high and 280 cm wide, stretched with precision inside custom black print frames. Archival footage blends with contemporary graphics, wrapping visitors in a visual timeline that traces the site’s transformation, from railway to mushroom farm to vibrant art space.

Reflection-free cinematic effects using PolyMolton drapes

The projection screen captures every detail, balancing brightness and shadow even in the tunnel’s moody, low light. The result? A crisp, cinematic projection that feels alive against the historic stones.

Around it, deep black masking drapes are carefully finished to hide the structure and absorb unwanted reflections. They focus every gaze on the story unfolding across the walls.

Innovation meets craftmanship, and together they make history glow again.
