NM LIVE GOES K3

New live sound production supplier, Sydney-based NM Live, has taken delivery of the first L-Acoustics K3 rental system in Australia, adding to their existing Kiva II and X12 inventory. NM Live now supplies systems for prestigious events hosting up to 10,000 people, across Australia.

“K3 is ready for the events of today and tomorrow,” shares L-Acoustics Executive Director of Application Design Florent Bernard. “Our design team created a dual-12-inch-based system with the form factor and price of a 10-inch design, without the inherent performance compromises of 10-inch loudspeakers. K3 offers long-throw, full-range performance in a compact, accessible package, tailor-made for small to mid-capacity events, and venues that are the mainstay of most sound providers. It is a ‘no compromises’ tool, perfectly adapted to the current event landscape and, when paired with K1 and K2, is quickly and powerfully scalable for large-capacity events.”

NM Live is not new to professional audio, the company spent years outfitting auditoriums on cruise liners around the world, until the fleets were tied up in the pandemic.

The business is the next iteration for Chris Kennedy, founder of Norwest Productions which enjoyed acclaim for delivering live sound for the 2000 Sydney Olympics – ‘the best Olympics ever’. The company grew to be Australia’s largest live sound supplier and made an international reputation supplying systems, designs and expertise to most Olympic ceremonies since, along with major national ceremonies in more than a dozen countries across the world.

Now branded NW Group and including a diverse range of audio visual specialist suppliers, NW Group are the ‘go-to’ supplier for complex and challenging large-scale events such as Hand Opera on Sydney Harbour – most recently staging Phantom of the Opera in often torrential rain – with zero technical failures.

Kennedy had his formative years in live sound from the 1980s, focused on large-scale mission-critical corporate events with a sharp eye for redundancy and quality delivery. He also delivered the bread and butter of outdoor events, festivals and concert tours and his company eventually became NW Group with offices across the region.

While Kennedy remains a shareholder of NW Group and is active as a consultant to them, NM Live is his passion business, devoted to the art and science of precise delivery of pristine live sound.
