The Opportunity

The Music and Performance Technician in the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance offers professional technical services and support to the Faculty and students. The role reports to the Performance and Technical Manager and will handle various responsibilities such as managing technical facilities, overseeing concerts and productions, and maintaining equipment.

The Music and Performance Technician assists in delivering technical services by conducting tests, managing AV support, booking facilities and equipment, and implementing technical procedures. They provide guidance and support for productions and events, ensuring safe and efficient technical operations in areas like stage mechanics, lighting, and audiovisuals. The Technician also contributes to equipment maintenance and repairs, resolves technical issues, complies with safety protocols, maintains communication with stakeholders, and demonstrates flexibility in working hours to accommodate events.

The successful appointee will have a tertiary qualification in a relevant field; or substantial relevant skills and work experience in Audio, Electrics or Mechanics within a theatre/performance environment; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
