MECC Staging Technician

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Staging Technician to join the multi-award-winning precinct at the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC).

Join our dynamic team, on a permanent full-time basis, working any five (5) out of seven (7) rosters including weekends and nights. While contributing to the vibrant cultural scene and community events that make our city thrive.

About you:

Are you passionate about creating memorable experiences through live events and performances? Do you have a keen eye for detail and technical expertise in staging and production. The successful applicant will hold a current doggers ticket or willingness to obtain and have demonstrated experience in the theatrical environment working in staging and as a flyman/mechanist.

About Us:

The Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC) is a state-of-the-art multi-million dollar precinct that provides unique settings for conferences, exhibitions, seminars and banquets. The facility consists of many versatile spaces including a 1090-seat theatre, 100-seat studio space, two plenary halls which when fully extended seat approx. 1500 people, two dedicated foyers, bars, breakout rooms and extensive front-of-house and backstage facilities. The Centre also comfortably accommodates up to 1000 people banquet style.

About the position:

The precinct is seeking a Staging Technician to assist operation and maintenance of the mechanical flying systems and staging equipment within the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre.

As a Staging Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful setup, operation, and maintenance of staging, lighting and audio visual equipment for a variety of events. From theatrical productions and musical performances to public presentations and community festivals, you will be a key player in creating a seamless and engaging experience for event attendees.
