VIOSO launches Experience Designer

VIOSO has announced the launch of VIOSO Experience Designer, a cloud-based platform that allows AV professionals to design and simulate complex projection systems entirely in a browser. The platform introduces the concept of a virtual site survey for projection installations, enabling designers to evaluate projector placement, brightness, lens behaviour and potential occlusions before arriving on site. Experience Designer forms the first stage of a complete projection workflow:
Design ? Simulate ? Calibrate ? Playback

While seamlessly integrating with VIOSO’s calibration and playback solutions, the platform is deliberately open and vendor-neutral and can be flexibly integrated into existing workflows of AV planners, system integrators, creative agencies and simulation environments.

Designing projection systems today often requires multiple disconnected tools across planning, simulation, calibration and playback. This fragmented workflow introduces risk, requiring manual data transfer and often exposing issues only during installation.

Experience Designer addresses this by enabling full-system simulation in advance — allowing designers to validate feasibility, optimise system design, and reduce uncertainty before equipment reaches the venue.

Using real-time GPU rendering and physics-based photometric analysis, users can instantly evaluate:
• Projection coverage and edge blending
• Brightness distribution and screen interaction
• Pixel density and visual fidelity
• Occlusions and line-of-sight constraints

The result is a shift from approximation to a predictable, validated system design.

By creating a physically accurate digital representation of the installation environment, Experience Designer enables AV teams to test and refine systems in advance.

Designers can import venue geometry, position projectors from manufacturer libraries, and simulate real-world optical behaviour — including lens characteristics, frustum geometry, and brightness falloff.

Advanced capabilities include:
• Rock-solid, geometry-accurate simulation of projection systems
• Precise modelling of lenses, frustums and brightness distribution
• Camera simulation, including fisheye systems for calibration planning
• Automatic multi-projector spacing with dynamic repositioning
• Occlusion detection using GPU-accelerated depth analysis

This transforms planning from a theoretical exercise into a practical, testable process.

Experience Designer improves communication between technical teams, clients and stakeholders by replacing static drawings with interactive visualisation.

Projects can be shared via simple links, allowing stakeholders to explore system layouts, coverage and visual outcomes directly in 3D.

The platform also includes an advanced reporting engine, enabling:
• Automated projector and system analysis
• Photometric validation and performance data
• Equipment specifications and layout documentation
• Extended PDF report generation for proposals and approvals

This significantly reduces friction in decision-making and accelerates project approval cycles.

Experience Designer leverages VIOSO’s 20 years of experience in projection calibration and system integration. The platform incorporates manufacturer-accurate projector libraries, screen-gain modeling, photometric calculations, and LED wall integration—capabilities refined through thousands of real-world installations.

The platform incorporates decades of projection mapping expertise and includes manufacturer-accurate projector libraries, screen-gain modelling, photometric calculations, and LED wall integration.

The platform includes:
• Multi-projector systems with real-time photometric analysis
• Occlusion detection using GPU-accelerated depth testing
• LED wall integration for hybrid projection/LED designs
• 3D model import (OBJ, FBX, Collada) for accurate venue representation
• Manufacturer projector libraries from Christie, Panasonic, Barco, and others
• Content simulation, including video, image and NDI-based textures with UV control

By combining technical precision with practical usability, Experience Designer provides a planning environment tailored to the realities of AV deployment.

With the introduction of Experience Designer, VIOSO expands its role from calibration and playback into the earliest stage of system design.

The platform supports everything from single-projector setups to large-scale environments with 50+ projectors — enabling AV professionals to move from concept through to delivery with greater confidence and efficiency.

Benjamin Fritsch, CEO of VIOSO, commented: “Projection projects have traditionally relied on a fragmented workflow of separate tools for design, calibration and playback. With Experience Designer, we’re introducing a more connected approach — enabling AV professionals to perform a virtual site survey before entering the venue and validate their system design in advance.

At the same time, we’ve intentionally built the platform to be open and adaptable, so it can support a wide range of workflows across the AV industry. Our goal is to provide a foundation that helps professionals deliver complex projection experiences with greater confidence and predictability.”
