Tracktion has released Waveform Free 14.1, an update to its free digital audio workstation that adds AI-assisted mix analysis, redesigned export tools and workflow improvements.
The software continues to support unlimited audio and MIDI tracks, third-party plugins and recording and mixing capabilities without track-count restrictions or trial expiration.
A key addition is Mix Analysis, which uses the software’s AI Assistant to examine full mixes, individual tracks or selected sections. The analysis measures loudness, true peak, dynamics, spectral balance, masking and mono compatibility. Users can also ask the Assistant to identify potential mix problems, such as muddiness, and locate contributing tracks and frequencies. The new /mixcheck command evaluates mixes against target levels for specific release platforms, allowing users to make adjustments and repeat the analysis.
The Render window has also been redesigned to simplify file delivery. New features include background render queues, pattern-based file naming with live previews, and LUFS normalization with true-peak limiting for controlling final output levels.
Additional updates include the integration of Tracktion’s Attracktive instrument across all editions, with factory content available through the Download Manager. A new plug-in detail editor displays track plug-ins inline, while a Pattern Generator toggle in the Clip detail editor provides quicker access to composition tools. The update also includes a revised MP3 encoder and stability improvements.
Waveform Free 14.1 is available here for macOS, Windows and Linux.
