About the role
We are looking for two passionate individuals who are eager to commence their careers as Lighting, Sound or Staging Theatre Technicians.
This two-year traineeship program combines a formal qualification, industry recognised certification and practical experience working within the State Government of South Australia.
To be eligible to receive a traineeship and government subsidisation, candidates must
Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Successfully complete an Identity Check.
- Have the ability and willingness to successfully undergo a Functional Capacity Assessment, which includes:
- Spirometry examination
- Physical capability assessment
- Audiometry (hearing) examination
These roles will commence in late January 2027.
What you’ll be doing
You will complete a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services through Adelaide TAFE over 24 months through a combination of formal training and on-the-job experience with host employer, Adelaide Festival Centre.
This unique combination of formal education and work experience will qualify you to work in a range of Technical Theatre roles in Lighting, Sound or Staging, delivering live performances in Adelaide Festival Centre’s four theatres.
Responsibilities
- Participate in bump-ins and bump-outs
- Participate in rehearsals and performance
- Undertake maintenance and repair on technical equipment
- Appropriately store equipment
- Undertake department cleaning and housekeeping duties
- Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external clients
- Adhere to Work Health and Safety standards
