We are looking for talented individuals to join our Live Production Technician Casual Pool at the Tanks Arts Centre to help bring exceptional performances to life!

The Tanks Arts Centre location has a long and fascinating history and is used today as an extraordinary and unique place in the establishment of Cairns, and in the hearts of everyone who visits. Since 1995, the Tanks has taken pride in delivering an exceptional local and international live music program, a carefully curated visual arts and performance program, market days, workshops, and community events.

What You Will Do:

As a Live Production Technician, you will work closely with our skilled technical team to deliver high-quality productions across various events and performances. Your role will involve a variety of tasks, from the technical setup and operation of lighting, sound, and mechanical systems, ensuring that every performance runs smoothly, safely, and to the highest industry standards.

The role requires the ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekend shifts, and when required work at other Council venues.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Current C Class Drivers licence (or ability to obtain); along with the ability to independently drive between all venues to meet operational needs.
  • Industry White Card (or ability to obtain).
  • Industry experience and operating skills in audio, lighting, and/or vision systems.
  • High level of operational competency in technical theatre, including lighting/audio and stage mechanics.
  • Sound level of operational competency in audio/lighting for technical theatre.
  • Sound understanding of production requirements of the performing arts and entertainment industry.
  • An understanding of relevant WH&S principles and legislation.
  • Certificate III in Live Production, Theatre and Events (Technical Operations) or ability to obtain is highly desirable.
