About the Role
Adelaide Festival Centre is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Department – Production to lead our team of Production Coordinators in delivering world-class festivals, performances and events. From major international touring productions to iconic festivals like Adelaide Cabaret Festival and DreamBIG, this is your chance to shape the Adelaide live arts experience.
Reporting to the Head of Technical and Production, you’ll lead and inspire a high-performing production team, overseeing planning, scheduling and delivery of all production activity across the Centre. This role blends leadership, logistics, creativity, and stakeholder management—ensuring every event is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Production Coordinators
- Provide high-level support to the Head of Technical and Production
- Oversee production planning for festivals, events, and venue hires
- Manage rostering, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Partner with internal teams and external clients to deliver seamless events
- Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and service delivery
Skills & Experience
- Proven leadership and team management experience in a performing arts centre or similar venue
- Strong production and event delivery expertise across staging, stage management, or technical theatre
- Exceptional planning, rostering, and project management skills
- The ability to build strong relationships with artists, hirers, and internal stakeholders
- A sharp eye for detail, budgets, and operational excellence
- Solid understanding of WHS in a live production environment
