About The Role:
Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Casual Theatre Technicians to join the team at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre.
This role provides technical support to a diverse range of performances, productions, community events and functions, ensuring a professional, customer-focused and industry best practice service is delivered to venue hirers and patrons. The position is based at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre but may also support events across the region including Bowen, Collinsville and Airlie Beach/Cannonvale. Evening and weekend work will be required.
Your Impact:
- Support the successful delivery of shows, performances and community events.
- Provide high-quality technical and production services to venue hirers, clients and community groups.
- Help create exceptional experiences for performers, event organisers and audiences.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Operating and supporting lighting, sound, staging and audio visual systems.
- Assisting with bump in and bump out activities and supervising staging crews as required.
- Setting up furniture, stage equipment and technical systems for events.
- Providing advice and technical support to venue hirers and event organisers.
- Acting as Duty Technician for events and performances.
- Maintaining technical equipment and ensuring safe operation in accordance with industry standards.
- Participating in production and event meetings as required.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current Class C Manual Driver Licence.
- A Blue Card for Working with Children and Young People.
- Qualifications and/or demonstrated theatre technical experience across lighting, sound and staging.
- Practical knowledge of theatre and entertainment production practices.
- Strong safety awareness and the ability to identify and manage workplace hazards.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and travel throughout the region when required.
Desirable:
- Intermediate Rigging (RI) High Risk Work Licence or willingness to obtain.
- First Aid Certificate
