Assistant Theatre Technician – Casual

Band 1 – $37.11 – $38.36 including casual loading excluding superannuation 

The Hamilton Performing Arts Centre (HPAC) is seeking enthusiastic Assistant Theatre Technicians to join our team. If you’re passionate about live events and entertainment and have hands-on industry experience, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the seamless load-in and load-out of performances, events, and productions
• Prepare and set up staging, technical equipment, props, and scenic elements to ensure every show is performance-ready
• Operate and support a range of technical systems, including professional sound and lighting consoles, helping deliver exceptional live event experiences

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work confidently and professionally with colleagues, performers, clients, and visiting crews
• A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced live production environment
• Flexibility to work a varied roster, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, in line with event and performance schedules
• A genuine passion for the performing arts, live events, and delivering outstanding audience experiences

The following licences and certifications are desirable but not essential:

• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) licence
• Rigging Licence
• Electrical Test and Tag Certifiation
• First Aid Level 2 Certificate

The successful applicant must demonstrate experience coordinating and operating lighting, sound, and staging to support successful performances and events.

A current working with children check will be required.
