Tour Manager

Reporting to the Associate Producer, the Tour Manager is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the National Tour and other projects produced by Opera Australia to high artistic and technical standards. The role will coordinate the requirements of the touring company and the production requirements in the rehearsal room and at venues, as required. This role will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth operational delivery of the tour on the road.

This is a fixed-term contract from May – September 2024.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as liaison and first point of contact, ensuring the effective and timely communication of information to producers, production managers, artists and musicians, creatives, orchestra, staff and crew, as required.
  • Support producers in monitoring and addressing of complex and/or sensitive enquiries and issues to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Support the coordination of covers or alternative artists or crew.
  • Coordinate briefings to performers, creatives, staff and crew, including any site or venue orientations/ inductions.
  • Maintain relationships with external travel, accommodation and freight providers


Administration

  • Ensure that tour rehearsals, performances, travel and other activities are carried out as scheduled.
  • Oversee company bump-in and out from venues.
  • Providing administrative support, including producing company schedules, to the Associate Producers or Production Managers.
  • Support the development and maintenance of WHS paperwork including show risk assessments, performance contingency plans and daily incident reporting as required.
  • Produce weekly timesheets for all company members for payroll purposes


Health & Safety

  • Complying with OA SAFE and any reasonable instructions, policies and procedure given by OA, to enable OA to comply with WHS laws and maintain a safe working environment.


About you 

We are seeking candidates who have advanced verbal & written communication skills, demonstrated interpersonal and relationship management and high attention to detail and sound organisational skills. You will be self-motivated and an ability to show initiative.

In addition to this you will have:

  • Experience in a similar role providing administrative support and/or coordinating project activities and stakeholder requirements, ideally in a touring production environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with creative and technical personnel and performers
  • High levels of computer literacy (Word, Excel) and database experience;
  • Working with Children check in NSW, may require other states 

It is preferable you will have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices Knowledge of content management systems
  • Knowledge or experience in purchase order systems, ticketing database and travel booking software.
  • Drivers licence.

Appointment to this position is subject to the position holder having residency status and/or possessing a visa with work rights.
