About the Role
The Theatre Technician is responsible for planning and overseeing the technical operations of the art centre, maintaining the art centre’s equipment, infrastructure and facilities, and ensuring an exceptional service experience for all arts centre users
Role Highlights
- Lead technical operations at the Arts Centre, ensuring high production standards across all activities and assessing requirements to allocate appropriate technical resources within budget.
- Maintain facilities and equipment, including overseeing preventative maintenance programs, managing technical systems and databases, and supporting capital works projects in liaison with Infrastructure.
- Supervise staff and contractors, including rostering casual technical staff, identifying training needs, and ensuring all work complies with WHS requirements.
- Support operational planning and risk management, including conducting worksite inspections, identifying and managing risks, and contributing to strategic and organisational plans while providing advice and support to users and community presenters.
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated high-level technical expertise across sound, lighting, cinema projection, and digital projection systems, with strong ICT capability including hardware, software, and network systems.
- Strong operational and project capability, including maintaining infrastructure, managing capital works, applying safe work practices, and delivering effective administrative and time management outcomes.
- Customer-focused and solutions-driven, with a commitment to delivering high-quality experiences, responding to stakeholder needs, and providing practical advice and support.
- Collaborative and adaptable approach, demonstrating professionalism, strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work under pressure, resolve conflict, and contribute to sustainable and innovative practices.
Special Conditions
- Frequent out of hours work.
- Occasional intrastate/interstate travel may be required.
- Hold a current Australian Driver’s Licence.
- A valid Department of Human Services Child Related Employment Screening is required.
- A current First Aid Certificate
- Required to participate in the Country Arts SA Staff Development Review Process and achieve performance targets as negotiated and mutually agreed with the line manager.
