Team Leader & Audio Visual (AV) Installer

$80,000 – $120,000 per year for the right person

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Audio Visual (AV) Installer to install, configure, test, and maintain commercial AV systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality installations while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install audio visual equipment including displays, projectors, LED walls, video conferencing systems, sound systems, control systems, digital signage, and associated hardware.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation documentation.
  • Install structured cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, fibre optic, HDMI, speaker cable, coaxial, and control cabling.
  • Terminate and test network, AV, and fibre optic cables using appropriate testing equipment.
  • Mount televisions, projectors, speakers, cameras, equipment racks, and AV hardware safely and accurately.
  • Install equipment racks and perform cable management to industry best practices.
  • Configure and commission AV systems including DSPs, control systems, and network-connected devices.
  • Perform system testing, fault finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Update firmware and software on AV equipment as required.
  • Complete commissioning documentation, service reports, and as-built documentation.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, builders, project managers, and other trades during installations.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule while maintaining high workmanship standards.
  • Maintain company tools, testing equipment, and vehicles.
  • Comply with all workplace health and safety requirements and company procedures.
  • Provide end-user training where required.


Technical Skills

  • Experience installing commercial audio visual systems.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards and installation techniques.
  • Ability to terminate RJ45,BNC, HDMI, speaker, and control cabling.
  • Experience with equipment from manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Logitech, Cisco, Poly, Yamaha, Shure, Sennheiser, Samsung, LG, Sony, and Epson.
  • Understanding of IP networking including TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE, DHCP, and switching fundamentals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, and other unified communications platforms.
  • Ability to use cable certification and testing equipment.
  • Competent using power tools, hand tools, and installation equipment.
  • Ability to read architectural plans and technical schematics.


Qualifications

  • Current driver’s licence. ( Manual Prefered )
  • Construction White Card (or equivalent site induction certification).
  • Elevated Work Platform (EWP), Working at Heights, and First Aid certifications are advantageous.
  • Manufacturer certifications (Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, Biamp, Dante, etc.) are desirable.


Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial AV installation or a similar technical field.
  • Experience working on corporate offices, education, government, healthcare, hospitality, or large commercial projects is highly regarded.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 20–25 kg.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in ceilings, and on construction sites.
  • Ability to use ladders, elevated work platforms, and power tools safely.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

Employment Type

  • Monday to Friday with occasional overtime and site travel as required.
