TASCAM announces the SS-R300N, a new network-enabled solid-state recorder/player designed for audio installations that require recording and playback with flexible system integration.
The successor to the SS-R250N, the SS-R300N combines recording and playback functions with expanded network capabilities for AV, broadcast, and commercial applications. It supports recording and playback at resolutions up to 96 kHz/24-bit and accommodates SDXC cards and USB flash drives.
External CD drives can also be connected to support playback of audio discs and AAC files. Recording and playback functions, along with multiple control and connectivity options, make the unit suitable for commercial and public facilities, halls and theaters, broadcast installations, and conference systems.
The SS-R300N adds network functionality through its built-in LAN port, allowing the unit to connect directly to a server. Files can be uploaded and downloaded manually or through automated processes using FTPS client and SFTP server/client functions, allowing files to be managed without removing the SD card.
The unit also supports Open Sound Control (OSC) for integration with external control systems. Ethernet, RS-232C, and parallel I/O interfaces provide additional options for remote control and system automation. For installations using network audio, the optional IF-DA2 Dante expansion card provides integration with Dante networks. The SS-R300N can also be integrated into the Q-SYS ecosystem.
Functions include pre-recording, track editing, pitch adjustment, mono mix, and End of Message (EOM) functions, along with timer-based operations such as SNTP synchronization. For long-duration recording, relay recording can switch between different storage media when one becomes full, allowing recording to continue with minimal interruption.
The SS-R300N is compatible with the SS-R250N and SS-CDR250N and can use the TASCAM Playlist Editor for offline playlist management, supporting integration with existing systems. The SS-R300N features a 1U rack-mount design with analog, digital, and control connectivity.
