Solid State Logic has introduced the Bus Comp Classic, a new 1U stereo bus compressor based on the company’s original Bus Compressor design that uses THAT 2181 VCAs and SSL’s side-chain architecture, with stepped Ratio, Attack, Release and side-chain high-pass filter controls, plus a stereo external side-chain input.
A continuously variable VCA Drive control allows users to move from the low-distortion character associated with SSL’s SuperAnalogue consoles to the harmonic coloration of the FX384 and 4000 Series designs, with up to 10% THD. The compressor also includes expanded Ratio and Release options and programme-dependent Auto Release.
The six-position side-chain high-pass filter helps maintain low-frequency impact, while the external side-chain input supports processing workflows for mixes, stems and alternate deliverables. Bus Comp Classic is designed for stereo mixes, buses, drums, instrument groups and parallel processing.
Additional features include THAT 2181 VCAs, variable VCA Drive, stepped controls, an integrated side-chain high-pass filter, stereo external side-chain input, and SSL’s Auto Release.
