Harry the hirer Productions delivers lighting, audio, video and rigging for corporate events, exhibitions, live entertainment and touring productions across Australia.

We’re looking for an experienced lighting professional to strengthen our established Sydney team. This hands-on, predominantly warehouse-based position combines practical lighting work with responsibility for crew leadership, preparation planning and departmental administration.

The role

• Set daily prep priorities, allocate work and lead lighting technicians and casual crew, providing clear direction, practical coaching and progress checks.
• Work with Project Managers to confirm equipment requirements and obtain lighting plots, patch sheets and DMX addressing details before preparation, following up missing information early.
• Oversee and carry out equipment preparation, fixture addressing, testing and packing, checking that each job includes the required cabling, accessories and consumables.
• Manage prep checklists, inventory updates and job status records, ensuring departmental paperwork is accurate, current and complete.
• Coordinate returns and de-prep, record shortages and damage, and track equipment faults through maintenance or repair.
• Maintain safe, organised work areas and refine warehouse procedures to reduce errors, rework and delays.
  

What you’ll bring

• Substantial entertainment lighting experience and a record of leading technical crews in events, theatre, touring or production hire.
• Strong working knowledge of moving lights, conventional and LED fixtures, DMX, Art-Net/sACN, power distribution and lighting control systems.
• Confidence interpreting technical documentation and using inventory systems, spreadsheets and email, with strong attention to detail and reliable follow-through.
• A calm, collaborative approach, sound troubleshooting skills and the judgement to balance deadlines with technical standards.
  

Experience with grandMA systems and relevant forklift or EWP licences will be highly regarded.
