As QPAC enters an exciting new phase of growth with the opening of the Glasshouse Theatre, we are expanding our technical workforce and seeking experienced staging professionals to join our Production Services team.

Head Technician – Staging
Senior Technician – Staging
These are exciting opportunities to work on some of Australia’s leading productions across multiple world – class performance spaces.
About the Opportunities
Working within QPAC’s Staging Department, these hands-on roles play a critical part in the successful delivery of productions, events and performances across our venues. You will be involved in the setup, operation and maintenance of staging equipment, flying systems and rigging while contributing to a safe, efficient and professional production environment.
Head Technician – Staging
The Head Technician is responsible for leading staging operations, supervising teams of technicians and ensuring productions are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest professional standards. This role contributes to operational planning, mentoring staff, equipment maintenance programs and the ongoing development of staging services.
Senior Technician – Staging
The Senior Technician provides technical expertise and on-shift leadership, leading small teams while supporting the delivery of productions and events. This role plays an important part in mentoring and developing technicians and contributing to staging operations across multiple venues.
About You
To be successful in one of these roles, you will bring:
- Experience working in a professional theatre, entertainment, live events or production environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of staging equipment, flying systems and rigging.
- The ability to interpret stage plans, technical requirements and production specifications.
- Experience leading, mentoring or supervising technical teams, or the demonstrated capability to step into a leadership role.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- A commitment to safe work practices and exceptional customer service.
- A passion for live performance and delivering outstanding experiences for artists, audiences and venue hirers.
- A High-Risk Work Licence (Basic or Intermediate Rigger), or the ability to rapidly acquire the appropriate licence.
- Working at Heights and EWP certifications, or the ability to obtain them.
The following will be highly regarded:
- Touring and commercial theatre experience.
- Trade or tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
- First Aid certification.
- Medium Rigid driver’s licence.
- Additional High Risk Work Licence
As these are theatre-based roles, flexibility to work across day, evening and weekend hours will be required in line with QPAC’s production schedules. Applicable penalty and overtime rates apply
