Allen & Heath has released Qu V1.2, a firmware update for its latest-generation Qu digital mixers that adds expanded Dante networking, computer-based mixing control and workflow features for live sound, AV, installation and broadcast applications.
“This update represents an important step forward for the Qu platform,” says Keith Johnson, senior product manager at Allen & Heath. “By introducing features such as DCA Spill, Listen Bus, Offline mode for MixPad, and the optional Dante 32×32 Upgrade, we’re expanding the range of applications Qu can handle while preserving the intuitive, fast workflow it’s known for.”
An optional Dante 32×32 upgrade is available for Dante-enabled mixers, increasing Dante capacity from 16×16 to 32×32 channels for larger audio networks and integration with DSPs, stage expanders, recording systems and digital splits.
The update also introduces Qu-MixPad for Windows and macOS, allowing engineers and installers to control the mixer from a computer. Offline Mode is now available across MixPad platforms, allowing shows to be prepared and edited without connecting to a mixer.
A new Expander option on input channels provides an alternative to gating for reducing background noise, with applications including speech, vocals and drums. Listen Bus allows PAFL audio to be routed to a dedicated output with independent level control for control room or engineer monitoring.
DCA Spill provides access to grouped channels by displaying all channels assigned to a DCA across the fader strips, providing faster control of larger channel counts during live productions.
Qu V1.2 is available as a free firmware update for current-generation Qu mixers. The Dante 32×32 Upgrade is available separately for Qu-5D, Qu-6D and Qu-7D models.
