Celestion Introduces CDX1-1413 Compact Screw-Thread High-Frequency Compression Driver

Celestion has introduced the CDX1-1413, a new 1-inch-exit, neodymium magnet high-frequency compression driver, a compact threaded variant of the brand’s CDX1-1412 driver that integrates an industry-standard 1.38-inch screw-thread fitting that provides compatibility with horn flares with threaded connections, making it a drop-in option for sound reinforcement equipment designers.

Measuring 2.4 inches in diameter and weighing 0.9 of a pound, the CDX1-1413 is stated to offer 70 watts continuous power handling (35 watts AES standard) and 107 dB sensitivity performance over a frequency range of 1,500 to 20,000 Hz. The recommended minimum crossover frequency for the unit is 2,000 Hz (12 dB/octave).

The driver has a 1.4-inch diameter edgewound copper clad aluminum voice coil paired with a single-piece polyimide film diaphragm and surround, and is fabricated using a rigid engineering thermoplastic. Acoustic foam is utilized internally to help minimize air cavity resonances and damp unwanted reflections from the inside of the cover to help foster natural HF audio reproduction.

“The CDX1-1413 offers the same exceptional power handling and compact form factor as our successful CDX1-1412, but with the added versatility of a screw-thread fitting,” explains Celestion global sales director Andy Farrow. “This provides designers with an incredibly compact and lightweight option for highly portable applications and fixed installations where standard threaded horn compatibility is required.”
