Review: DPA N-Series Digital Wireless System

By Bill Di Paolo

For decades, DPA Microphones has built its reputation on producing some of the most respected microphones in the professional audio industry. Whether found on Broadway stages, in broadcast studios, concert halls, houses of worship, or live touring productions, DPA microphones have become synonymous with exceptional transparency, accuracy, and natural sound reproduction.

When the company introduced the N-Series Digital Wireless System, expectations were understandably high. The obvious question was whether DPA could successfully carry its renowned microphone performance into a complete digital wireless ecosystem. After extensive field testing in three very different production environments, my answer is an emphatic “yes.”

My evaluation centered around the DPA N-Series dual-channel digital wireless receiver (offering Dante and analog outputs), configured with the 470 MHz to 870 MHz analog tuning option. It was paired with an N-Series handheld transmitter equipped with DPA’s 2024 supercardioid vocal capsule as well as an N-Series bodypack transmitter utilizing the company’s new MicroLock connector with a DPA 6060 subminiature lavalier microphone.
