You can talk fixtures and focus one minute, and figures the next. Bump-in and blackout, budgets and margins – you swap hats without missing a beat.
You’ve built your reputation on relationships that last, and you can do it because you actually know the craft. Lighting, staging, video, rigging, audio – you’ve been close enough to it, long enough, that clients trust every word you say and competitors struggle to talk you down on the detail.
Now you’re after a bigger stage: a serious book of clients, high-profile shows, and a business that backs you to chase it down. If that sounds like your kind of challenge, we should talk.
Harry the hirer Productions is one of the country’s biggest names in event production, and our Melbourne team runs out of our national headquarters – a genuinely buzzing place to work. Across the year we bring lighting, video, rigging and audio to a wildly varied slate of events, shows, conferences and productions, for clients who expect the very best and come back because they get it.
The pace is quick, the ideas come thick and fast, and the people are among the sharpest in the business. This role sits at the heart of our client facing team – we’re after a passionate industry person who can grow the knowledge, add value to the work, and be part of the reason clients choose us over anyone else.
The role
As an Account Production Manager, you own the client relationship end to end – you’re the trusted name behind their most important events, and the person accountable for delivering their shows. Day to day, that looks like:
· Owning and growing a portfolio of key events – deepening the relationships, spotting the tech opportunities, and driving the shows that comes with them.
· Building confidence with clients – turning enquiries, referrals and your own network into long-term clients.
· Owning the proposal, scoping technically sharp solutions that stack up both creatively and commercially.
· Being the client’s trusted advisor from first conversation through to post-event debrief, and the reason they come back.
· Partnering closely with our production and operations teams so what you promise is delivered flawlessly – and your clients keep trusting you.
· Keeping across where the industry’s heading, so you’re always bringing clients ideas they didn’t know to ask for.
Is this you?
You enjoy being with people, impressing them with ideas and solutions, and you’ve got the production know-how to back it up. Specifically, you’ll bring:
· A strong track record in the lighting, audio, video or rigging industries – ideally within events, production or live entertainment.
· Enough hands-on understanding of lighting, staging, video, rigging or audio to earn a client’s trust and hold your own on the detail – a background in theatre, major or business events or large-scale production is a real advantage.
· A genuine hunter’s instinct for new opportunities, balanced with the care to grow the clients you already have.
· The presence and polish to manage senior stakeholders and a large, high-value portfolio.
· Commercial sharpness – you know how to scope a solution that delivers for the client and makes money for us.
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills, on paper and in the room.
· A cool head when it’s chaos, and the judgement to know where to put your energy.
· Working knowledge of Vectorworks is a bonus, and a current driver’s licence with your own vehicle.
Why you’ll want in
Beyond an industry-leading package that reflects the responsibility of the role, this is a seat with genuine influence and genuine reward. You’ll carry a book of ambitious, high-profile clients, work alongside a team where your results are felt straight away, and have a real hand in shaping where we take the business next. The growth – and the earning potential – is there for the taking.
