Big Picture Facilitate ShipIt

SafetyCulture recently partnered with Big Picture’s Live Event Studio to facilitate ‘ShipIt’, a worldwide internal staff celebration.

The Sydney studio served as the global master control room for the broadcast, with connected remote locations in New York, Kansas City, Manchester, Brisbane and Melbourne, and remote Q&A feeds from audience members in other locations. Each location was connected via low latency enterprise streaming and remote communications fully integrated with the Sydney onsite Riedel matrix system.

“This proved to be invaluable for communicating and calling the show across all the global remote sites,” commented David Horscroft, SafetyCulture’s Global Production Manager.

In the Sydney studio, Big Picture’s 17m wide high resolution LED screen provided the backdrop for the hostings with a full audio and lighting solution. A second green screen set was built to facilitate segments that had individual presenters being composited in real-time from remote locations around the globe into a virtual set together.

“We had over 30 remote feeds in and out of the studio running concurrently, with most remote sites having multiple camera angles and return feeds, our streaming solution ran fixed latency which allowed us to time-align multiple cameras and cut between with no sync issues, the exceptional quality also allowed real-time keying into virtual sets, In addition to the seven cameras and other local content sources in the Sydney Host Studio,” said Josh Moffat, Technical Director. “It is a testament to the whole team that we were live for four hours with no technical issues. The whole team did a great job with a significant number of moving parts, and it was great to work with David and the entire team from Safety Culture to execute this project.”

Big Picture’s Live Event Studio features extensive connectivity and cutting edge broadcast infrastructure to facilitate projects of this nature with ease, in addition to full back of house facilities in a COVID safe environment. “It was a pleasure being accommodated in a purpose-built facility in the heart of Sydney, the results were incredible. Account manager Brett Hawkins, and the Big Picture team executed this event with flexibility and ease.” David Commented.
