The WHS Coordinator provides expert advice and support to the Wharf Renewal Project Director in relation to Work, Health and Safety (WHS). The role plays a key role in the coordinating and facilitating the implementation of Sydney Theatre Company’s (STC) WHS Operational Management Plan. The role works closely with Heads of Department, Human Resources and Health and Safety Representatives to ensure the company fulfils its obligations under relevant legislation and industry guides and standards.
The WHS Coordinator is responsible for identifying, coordinating and facilitating training requirements of the company in relation to Work, Health and Safety
- Hours of Work
- This position is for a 9 month fixed term contract.
- The usual hours of work are 35 hours week. However, the nature of working for a theatre company and requirements of this position require a degree of flexibility, and will include evening work and occasionally weekends.
- The role will require working across Fox Studios, Moore Park & Walsh Bay and may require the ability to work from home on occasion.

- Salary is dependent on skills and experience
- 4 weeks annual leave (pro-rata)

Capabilities and competencies
- Experience in theatre production and/or live events
- Extensive experience and workplace application in a WHS role or one with WHS responsibility
- Post Graduate qualification or relevant VOC training in Work, Health and Safety
- NSW HSR training
- Strong understanding of WHS legislative and regulatory frameworks as applies to the live performance industry.
- Ability to systematically organise complex information.
- Excellent communication skills, with a specific ability to communicate effectively with a broad cross section of people
- A self-starter with a dynamic approach to improving processes and systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial relations legislative and regulatory frameworks as applies to the live performance industry.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive applications, Filemaker Pro) with a proven ability to master new software packages.
- Highly numerate with the ability to create and manage spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel.
