Waves Audio announced that it is now shipping Waves Stream, a new remote audio collaboration service that’s designed to allow music and creators to share audio directly from their DAW with their co-creators or clients in real time.
Stream offers stated low latency, secure link sharing, and features such as integrated mic control within a streamlined user interface. Sessions are accessible anytime, anywhere, enabling recipients to open them in any browser without requiring plugins on their desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone.
The Stream Send plugin includes a mic talkback function that allows users to provide real-time commentary on a song or mix they’re sharing while playing it, similar to a studio’s talkback function. By sidechaining any channel that has a mic connected to Stream, users can share their thoughts, and with gain control. This is especially helpful when you’re seeking approval or final sign-off from the person you’re collaborating with.
Every stream is a one-time, single-use link to help guarantee privacy and confidentiality. Further, if someone doesn’t click on a link within five minutes of the users sending it, the stream will terminate. For added protection, there’s an option to password-protect links.
Listening via the Stream web player requires no license, and it’s readily available to anyone with a Stream link. Further, users can choose to listen either via a web player or a DAW. If they prefer to listen to incoming audio through your DAW, they simply use the “Receiver” plugin included in their Stream license. Stream’s audio quality is powered by the Falcon codec, which is Waves Audio’s proprietary technology,
As an internet-based service that relies on a dynamic web infrastructure for real-time remote communication, Stream is offered on a SaaS (software-as-a-subscription) model. It’s available to users either as a stand-alone monthly or annual subscription (separate from any other Waves subscription), or as part of the larger Waves Creative Access subscriptions (Waves Essential and Waves Ultimate). It’s also available to Waves Mercury bundle owners with a current Waves Update Plan.
