VuePix Infiled Screens & Acme Blinders for The Jobs & Skills Summit

VuePix Infiled LED screens have once again been used as a main digital platform in the Australian Parliament house, delivering the content and IMAG for The National Jobs & Skills Summit.

The highly anticipated summit brought together government, employers, unions and selected tertiary education stakeholders to address economic challenges. It was convened by the Prime Minister and Treasurer over 1-2 September 2022 in the Great Hall of Parliament House, Canberra.

Elite Event Technology (EET) were in charge of the technical production of the summit. Darren Russell, MD of EET, specified two of the same size LED screens – 5.5m long and 3m high, to help delivering the conference program to all the parties present at Parliament House, as well as for the live broadcast.

“We would normally use projectors in the Great Hall for this type of event. However, as the summit was broadcast live on ABC both days, the lighting of the entire room had to be broadcast standards for the cameras, and the projectors just would not cut through and would not be bright enough. That is where the VuePix Infiled screens excel, delivering superb visual performance in any light conditions,” comments Darren.

The EET team untraditionally utilised sixteen Acme LED Stage Blinders to transform the Great Hall into a broadcast environment. “It is such a vast space, and you really need broad light to provide sufficient lighting levels for the TV cameras in the Great Hall. We have done many broadcasts from Parliament House before, but we have never used the LED blinder type of light fixture to flood the space before … and they have definitely exceeded our expectations,” confirms Darren. “Running them on a low intensity did the trick. And the broadcast team were really happy with the colour temperature. We own a very large number of these blinders and the fact that they have a warm white and an amber source, allows them to mimic a tungsten lamp very well. We tested many different kinds of LED blinders before purchasing the Acme fixtures, which were hands down the best of all that we compared.”

The strong focus of the summit was addressing skills shortages in Australia and getting the nation’s skill mix right over the long-term. “And that is definitely what our industry is experiencing too at the moment,” comments Darren. “So we really hope that the extra resources promised to be put towards training and attracting skilled migrants from overseas will be upheld and delivered.”
