The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic Venue Audio Technician to join our Technical Team at the Clocktower Centre. This role will see you supporting the Clocktower Centre by providing technical services for the venue’s 500 seat proscenium arch Theatre, studio and other creative spaces and function rooms within the venue.

Reporting to the Technical Services Supervisor and assisting with the supervision of Casual Technical staff, your roles and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Contributing to the smooth-running of events at the Clocktower Centre
  • Maintaining a positive and professional culture within the Technical team at the Clocktower Centre
  • Setting up and operating technical equipment including audio, lighting, mechanical and vision with a stronger emphasis on audio
  • Interpreting daily room requirements and carry out function / meeting room set ups
  • Assisting in identifying the technical requirements of the users of facilities
  • Providing guidance, advice and training to the pool of casual staff regarding theatre operations

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of one-year experience in setting up and operating of audio equipment
  • Relevant experience in maintaining theatrical audio systems
  • Some experience setting up and operating lighting equipment
  • Experience in a customer service role, preferably in the performing arts sector
  • Technical qualifications well-regarded
  • Test & Tag licence well-regarded


Key Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience in working for a performing arts venue that facilitates a busy calendar of events by a range of arts groups
  • Demonstrated experience in a live theatre venue in the areas of:
    • Live mixing a range of different performance genres i.e Musical Theatre, Professional and Amateur Bands, Concerts and Classical Music
    • Set up and operation of audio systems
    • Maintenance of audio systems
  • Demonstrated experience in a live theatre venue in the areas of:
    • Lighting
    • Staging and flying
    • Audio visual
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a team environment, as well as supervising and leading a crew of casual staff.
  • Availability to work rostered shifts that can occur Monday to Sunday, early morning, daytime and evening.
