Venue Technician

Council’s Cultural Precinct is an evolving hub of artistic, cultural, performing arts, events and entertainment activities.   We are looking for energetic individuals to join our pool of Casual Venue Technicians (multiple positions) to provide hands-on experience and practical support in the areas of sound engineering, lighting and lighting design, audio and audio visual systems.

It is an exciting time to be at Council and an opportunity to be part of Burnie’s future as Council embarks on a journey to reimagine the delivery of arts and cultural services for the people of Burnie through one single site arts centre.  Proposed plans for the re-vamped Cultural Precinct will be available on Council’s website for viewing in the coming days so keep an eye out!

To join our pool of Casual Venue Technicians, you will need as a minimum:

  • strong communication skills
  • to be technologically-savvy
  • the ability to problem solve
  • availability on weekends and week nights until late
  • to be physically fit
  • to be able to work with limited supervision;
  • willingness to learn on the job; and
  • to be a team player.

Previous experience in a similar role within an arts, entertainment or cultural venue would be preferred but is not a show-stopper (pun intended). Formal qualifications in Performing Arts and Live Production or similar would be well regarded.
