About the Opportunity
The Glenelg Shire Council is looking for a skilled theatre technician and team leader to join our Arts and Culture technical support unit. Based primarily at the Portland Arts Centre, you will deliver spectacular theatre and music productions by developing and overseeing our casual tech team.
In this varied full-time role, you will also provide invaluable technical advice to the programming team and to venue hirers, manage production equipment at Council’s halls across the shire and advise on maintenance needs and health and safety issues at the venues.
The role has been designed with flexible working hours in mind to help maintain work-life balance, understanding the unavoidable need for evening and weekend work in the industry.

What you need to Thrive
- Formal training and/or extensive experience in theatrical sound and/or lighting.
- Experience leading others and giving instruction and direction.
- Strong organisational and IT skills.
- A collaborative approach to work, with an interest in training and developing staff.
- Great interpersonal skills for liaising with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A safety driven mindset.
