Time commitment: 0.8 FTE. Some flexible working is available but there will be some requirement for in person office hours as well as work outside office hours.

OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Producer, Market & Engagement, this position is a key role in the day-to-day planning and running of a pop-up venue within Circus Oz. There is a requirement to work autonomously and as part of a team to establish what is needed and act accordingly. The Venue Production Manager will be responsible for leading the set-up of all production elements and overseeing the running of a venue within the Circus Oz building. Confidence in independent decision-making and execution is a must.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Producer – Market and Engagement, this position is artist-focused and responsive to the evolution of creative activity. Ensuring safety, compliance and operational effectiveness is paramount.
- Receive directives and priorities of tasks
- Identify emerging issues/risks and implications and propose solutions
- Design and plan pop-up venue within the current Circus Oz building
- Present open and transparent evaluation of results, providing frank and fearless advice on where changes and improvements required
- Work closely with the Operations & Safety Coordinator to ensure the safe practice of all circus activity

- Working across multiple programs, with limited resources and balancing competing priorities

Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications:
- Level 2 First Aid, Victorian Working with Children Check
- Higher Education or equivalent experience in production management
Experience in Production Management for physical performance and festival venues:
- An understanding of, and experience in, technical and production aspects of circus and or physical theatre
- Budget management
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously and liaise effectively with other departments, and artists
- Relevant industry experience
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of OH&S requirements
- Scheduling and management of staff
- Understanding of Covid health regulations and requirements
- Good working knowledge of CAD, Vectorworks or equivalent
- Experience in development of policies and procedures around public venue operation

- Construction induction, Forklift license, Warden training
- Basic knowledge of lighting design
