The AV Technician is responsible for delivering a superior quality audio visual service that goes beyond customer expectations by utilising technical knowledge, hospitality skills and up-selling techniques. Working to assist the Project Manager, this position is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service across the full spectrum of technical disciplines. The successful candidate would have a keen eye for detail and a concern for delivering a high quality event for the client.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Working with all crew (including freelancers) with respect to all aspects of a presentation including installation, rehearsal, show and pack down.
- Applying working knowledge of all equipment, its application, cabling requirements and likely problem areas.
- Visually identifying and assembling all equipment to the correct specification.
- Assessing the suitability of any given piece of equipment for the job it has been specified to do.
- Demonstrating competency and level of understanding of the following equipment:
- Multi image Data display systems including, LCD and Plasma display technologies.
- Computer to Projector interfacing, switching and routing.
- Video / Data signal processing.
- Computer Networking.
- Basic Rigging Skills.
- Multi Speaker/Source Audio Systems including front of house.
- PA systems, fold back systems and signal processing devices.
- Stage Lighting techniques including knowledge of Moving lights.
- Video playback devices, Video cameras and Video Display devices.
- Audio and Video recording devices.
- Installing, operating and packing down equipment in a safe manner.
- Testing and checking installed equipment including aligning, tuning and troubleshooting.
Skills and attributes required:
- Previous experience within a similar technical AV role.
- A good understanding of the industry and Company’s products and productions would be advantageous.
- Highly developed customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Mature approach to dealing with people at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to understand and comply with the Company’s Health and Safety Rules.
- Conscientious with a good eye for detail.
- Methodical and analytical approach to work with good fault finding skills.
- Capable of working to deadlines.
- Excellent grooming and presentation.
