Trainee Theatre Technicians x 2

Classic Recruitment & Human Resources is proud to be working with the Empire Theatres to appoint two (2) fixed term, full time Theatre Technician Trainees.

You will have the opportunity to work in an iconic multi venue precinct – Toowoomba’s own Empire Theatre and be part of a dedicated team with supportive management, whilst delivering exceptional service in our first-rate facilities.

The purpose of the position is to provide production support services while also undertaking a traineeship to complete a Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services.

It is anticipated the employment contract will commence in January 2023 for a 12-month period.

About you
Empire Theatres are looking for motivated candidates with a strong desire to learn and succeed as a team member. Other capabilities we welcome are commitment, integrity and honesty with the ability to meet deadlines, good communication& interpersonal skills and an interest in the working environment. The traineeships include a combination of on and off the job learning as trainees work towards obtaining a qualification – Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services.

You will need to demonstrate:

  1. Keen interest in Sound / Lighting / Staging and Audio Visual production
  2. Sound English language, literacy and numeracy skills
  3. Basic keyboard and computer operations skills
  4. An understanding of interpersonal and customer service skills
  5. Initiative and basic problem-solving skills
  6. Licensed to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland

Applicants are required to provide a resume, and a descriptive one page letter outlining some of your key live production experience and achievements to date.

Applicants must NOT have completed a Qualification equal to or above a Certificate III level as this will make you ineligible. These positions would suit a school leaver.

Employment conditions as per Empire Theatre Single Enterprise Agreement 2019 (AG2019/2926). Full Time Level 1 – $22.61 per hour / $44,677.36 per annum (38 hour week) with 10.5% Superannuation

Please be advised that the preferred candidate for this position, will be required to attend and participate in a skills assessment to further evaluate suitability for the position and as a condition of employment require a Positive Notice Blue Card, and must confirm their COVID19 vaccination status.

There are two traineeships on offer. One position is an identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander position.
