Touring Technical Coordinator (Contract – 7 weeks)

The Touring Technical Coordinator will join the regional Victoria and Sydney tour of our new production Yong. The role plays a crucial role in the successful delivery of all technical aspects of our touring productions.

  • Dates: 2 August to 20 September 2022

Rates: Above award rates and commensurate with experience. Plus, 10.5% employer contribution to superannuation 20 days annual leave per annum accrued pro-rata 10 days personal leave per annum pro-rata.

About the tour

Set against the backdrop of the Australian Goldrush of 1857, Yong is a new Australian play by Jenevieve Chang. Mixing historical fact and narrative fiction, Yong takes us on a journey across land and sea, from China to the goldfields of Australia. The production Yong is based on the book, Yong: the journey of an unworthy son by Janeen Brian. Duties

  • Working closely with the Touring Company Stage Manager, lead the technical elements of staging Monkey Baa works on tour.
  • Adapting technical elements for each venue and liaising with local technical teams to ensure smooth production of each show.
  • Supporting the Touring Company Stage Manager to ensure all production elements are bumped in safely and effectively.
  • Working closely with local technical teams (if applicable) to ensure the effective setup of the set, lighting, audio and other technical areas of the production.
  • Calling the lighting focus at each venue.
  • Troubleshooting all technical elements including set placement for each venue. Responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment and on road assets. Assistance with the on the road wellness of the company
  • Support the creation and updating of show paperwork and reports.
  • Other duties as required.

Selection criteria

ESSENTIAL

The following skills and personnel specifications are essential for applicants:

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and delivery of the technical designs for our touring productions.
  • Technical all-rounder.
  • Highly organised, with an ability to prioritise and multi-task. Flexible, responsive and a team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm whilst working under pressure.
  • Available to join all parts of our national tour and includes scheduled hours in the evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to carry out the physical demands of the job.
  • Australian drivers licence.
  • Valid Working with Children Check.

PREFERRED

First aid qualification.
