Circus Oz, Australia’s internationally acclaimed premier contemporary circus, is looking for a Touring Lighting Supervisor to join their team in early 2020. The successful applicant will be responsible for the installation and operation of the lights for the Circus Oz show through various regional Australian venues.
The position of Touring Lighting Supervisor is a Melbourne-based position. A broad range of domestic travel will be required.
Circus Oz has a small, multi-skilled team and the applicant will need to have the following skills and qualities:
- An understanding of, and experience in, technical and production aspects of theatre
- A good knowledge of the ETC Ion 2000 console, with quick programming skills
- Ability to work within tight schedules and around other departments
- Experience in running local crews
- Experience at drawing plans in Vectorworks
- Relevant industry experience
- High level of organisational skill
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to call followspot cues whilst also operating console cues for a live show
- Capacity to be flexible and undertake the range of duties efficiently in a variety of contexts
- Excellent written and verbal communications
- Ability to work autonomously and liaise effectively with other departments
This is envisaged as a contract by contract role, (in association with Circus Oz tours). Specifically from 24th February 2020 to 27th April 2020 but Circus Oz encourages applicants who are not available in this specific timeframe as there will likely be further roles later in the year.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate smooth bump in and set up of lighting rig in various venues.
- Adapt lighting designer’s plans to various venues, using in house equipment available.
- Call followspot cues whilst operating console cues during the show
- Work with local crews to get lighting rig up within scheduled time
- Identify and create a safe working environment.
