TLS Ignite Red Country Music Festival with RCF 30-A

Underpinned by 20 years of industry experience, TLS Productions have honed their expertise in creative light, sound and audio-visual production to become one of Perth’s leading events suppliers.

Tailoring production for festivals, concerts, theatres and corporate events across a range of scales, TLS keep pace with technical innovations in the AV landscape to aid in delivery of the highest quality experiences possible.

Dedicated to the cutting edge, TLS’s technicians undertake ongoing training and accreditation whilst the company continues to expand its catalogue of modern hardware. In need of a robust, modular PA solution with superior sonic performance, TLS Productions’ pursuit of next-generation technology led them to acquire an RCF HDL 30-A line array system for use during premium events.

Recently deployed at Red Country Music Festival in Newman WA, TLS put RCF’s Italian-made loudspeaker hardware through its paces, with the hardware living up to the HDL Series’ ‘true workhorse’ reputation.

Featuring a line-up stacked with Australian Country acts, the festival drew crowds of approximately 3000 people to its outdoor stage. TLS’ skillful setup of HDL 30-A modules ensured outstanding coverage and clarity for the event, as Guillaume Laurent, the Managing Director of TLS, explains:

“For the Red Country Music Festival, we flew 7 x HDL 30-A boxes per side and 1 x HDL 30-A as infill, with 8 x 9006-AS Sub boxes in clusters of 2 in front of the stage. The sound was clean, with clear transients, and distortion-free at all meaningful distances. We experimented with delaying the outer subs- it made a huge difference in terms of coverage and how big it sounded. Everyone, from our client, the bands and FOH engineers, commented on how the PA performed. The HDL 30-A punched well beyond its weight.”

Featuring 2-way active cabinets with built-in 2200-watt class-D amplifiers, each module boasts the capability of delivering 137 dB max SPL, while RCF’s proprietary FiRPHASE onboard phase alignment technology ensures excellent transient response and pristine sound reproduction.

For TLS, the HDL 30-A offers a powerful solution that fills a gap in the company’s growing loadout:

“Over the last few years we have been building our audio inventory,” says Guillaume. “We were looking for a modern mid-level PA system that could cater to most of our events. The RCF HDL 30-A ticked a lot of boxes in terms of return on investment, audio quality, clarity, volume, useability, and size.”

With a robust and durable construction, the HDL 30-A modules are particularly compact for their output capability. Lightweight and mobile, the HDL 30-A system is designed for effortless handling and configuration, affording the technicians from TLS a smooth loadout experience. Guillaume explains that a swift system setup is particularly advantageous given the lengthy commute to the festival location:

“Newman is a 20-hour drive from Perth. The size of the RCF boxes meant that our audio hardware, lights and LED screen all fit nicely in one truck. The HDL 30-A’s rigging system is very well designed. We simply preset the angles at our office and were then able to rig all eight boxes in just a few minutes.”

Following the HDL 30-A’s highly successful deployment, Guillaume says that his positive experience at the festival has prompted him to explore further solutions from RCF’s extensive range:

“From my first impression using the line array, I was really happy with the purchase. My team and my customers are extremely pleased with RCF. The brand’s products have always been consistent in sound quality and build quality. We will be looking to expand our inventory with more RCF products in the near future.”
