We are looking for casual Theatre Technicians to join our creative and dynamic team. In this role you will be responsible for delivering high quality technical services and expertise at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC). This position is also required to implement the actions associated with the theatre maintenance schedule.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the delivery of all aspects of CPAC’s technical and theatre operations including: provision of assistance to the CPAC Operations Team Leader and the Theatre & Events Technician in the operation of all staging elements and the maintenance of contemporary technical knowledge in the performing arts industry;
- Assist in the delivery of theatre maintenance services for CPAC including:
- Performance of procedures for dismantling, checking materials and equipment, package and storage of all theatre and technical equipment;
- Performance of maintenance schedules for the regular servicing of all theatre tools and equipment;
- Ensuring the efficient and safe use of all theatre and technical tools and equipment; and
- Assistance with the preparation of CPAC spaces for hire for incoming users/hirers; and
- Any other accountabilities or duties as directed which are within the employee’s skills, competence and training.
About you
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Qualifications in theatre production at TAFE Certificate III level or relevant comparable industry experience;
- Demonstrated experience in the use and maintenance of all technical theatre equipment including mechanical/rigging, audio, video and lighting systems;
- Demonstrated experience of working in a technical theatre staff team and with client production personnel;
- Good problem-solving skills and demonstrated capacity to work both independently and in a small team environment;
- Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check clearance (Paid Employment); and
- Current Class C driver’s licence and Work Health and Safety General Construction Induction (White Card).
Remuneration:
$34.07 – $39.45 per hour (Including Casual Loading) plus 10% superannuation

- No guaranteed hours, may work up to 38 hours per week
