Theatre Technician – Audio

Band 1 – $48.30 per hour, plus 11.5% statutory superannuation (junior rates apply if under 21)

At the Wedge Performing Arts Centre, we’re looking for an Audio Technician who loves the challenge and excitement of live shows. From intimate performances to big-name acts, this role is your chance to make a real impact in a dynamic and creative environment.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced Audio Technician who’s skilled, reliable, and ready to take on a variety of events. From mixing audio for school plays to fine-tuning sound for big-name music acts, you’ll help bring performances to life at The Wedge.

Here’s what you’ll bring:

  • Audio expertise – experience in live event settings with strong knowledge of Allen and Heath DLive systems.
  • Problem-solving skills – you can think on your feet and troubleshoot under pressure.
  • Flexibility – you’re available to work evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Team-oriented approach – you work well with others and contribute to a positive team environment.

The Wedge Performing Arts Centre is a vibrant hub for creativity and community. Featuring a 390-seat theatre, a caf?, and versatile meeting spaces, it’s home to a wide range of performances and events. From school plays to headline music acts, every day here is unique and exciting.

What you’ll be doing

As an Audio Technician, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality events at the Wedge Performing Arts Centre.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating and managing audio systems for live performances and shows.
  • Setting up and supporting audio for a diverse range of events, including professional artists, local performing arts groups, comedians, school productions, and music concerts.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to ensure smooth operations.
  • Collaborating with the team to deliver professional and seamless events.
  • Providing excellent customer service, even in challenging situations.
  • While this role will focus on audio it will still requires flexibility to work across audio, lighting, and mechanical disciplines as part of a cohesive team.


Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in audio operations and live event delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of Allen and Heath DLive systems.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and adapt under pressure.
  • Availability to work after-hours and weekends.
