Theatre Technician

The Theatre Technician provides advanced technical and production support within the College’s Performing Arts Theatre. This position is responsible for designing, configuring, operating, and maintaining professional lighting, audio, staging, and AV systems in our production and event environments that assist us in delivering outstanding artistic and educational experiences.

YOU WILL
Oversee
, operate and maintain lighting, sound, vision and rigging systems
Contribute to the design, development, configuration, repair, replacement and implementation of AV systems and related networking
Proactively manage maintenance and upgrades of technical systems in performance venues, including assisting with long-term planning for facility improvements
Provide technical support and solutions for creative and educational projects
Collaborate with creative staff to realise artistic concepts within budget and timeframe
Support teachers and students in developing technical theatre skills as part of classroom and co-curricular programs
Plan and coordinate technical requirements for large-scale events, which may include multi-day events
Foster strong relationships with the College community and external stakeholders
Proactively manage a risk-averse operation and foster a positive culture

YOU WILL BRING
Strong
 experience in technical theatre or live production, including lighting, sound, and stage management using MA3 lighting consoles, QLab, and digital audio consoles
Knowledge of AV, multimedia integration, digital recording/streaming technologies and projection mapping
Ability to effectively work with students, colleagues and the community
Dedication to integrity, reliability, sound judgement, service and risk adversity
Qualifications in Technical Production, Theatre Technology, or a relevant equivalent
Rigging licence for theatrical fly system preferred, or a willingness to obtain
Working with Children blue card
Physical fitness to work across a vibrant campus and perform manual handing tasks
