Theatre Technician

  • Pay Rates: From $37.56 per hour, with additional rates applied for weekends
  • Location:  Karralyka – Ringwood


Karralyka, located in Ringwood, is a theatre and function centre that hosts a variety of events from professional touring productions to intimate cabaret performances and local dance showcases.

We currently have an opening for experienced Theatre Technicians to work with our Production Team. This is a casual position that will start immediately and requires availability to work weeknights and weekends regularly.

This role is responsible for the technical aspects of theatrical productions at Karralyka; liaising with customers who hire the theatre and managing all aspects related to the operation and use of the facilities and equipment within the theatre.

A successful applicant will work in all areas in Karralyka, including performances in the theatre and other venues including outdoor events. The ability to maintain high standards of OH&S and safety in accordance with policies and procedures in required.

Successful applicant must have:

  • Diploma in Technical Theatre/Live Production or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in working a professional theatre, excellent customer service and client relationship management skills.
  • An excellent work ethic and be a strong team player with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
  • You must be able to work a variety of hours including weekends as required.
  • Experience in both lighting and sound setup, patching, checking is desirable.
  • Experience in operation of Digico SD series sound consoles, sound design, running sound checks and PA setup.


Or if you have:

Experience with the ETC Gio lighting console, rigging, patching and focusing of whole lighting rigs including moving fixtures and intelligent LED fixtures.
