Theatre Technician

  • Theatre Technician 

As the Theatre Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the college’s dynamic activities. This multifaceted position encompasses technical assistance in various forms, including audio visual support for performances, conferences, and significant events. You will maintain lighting, sound, and production equipment, and facilitate multimedia elements in theatres, productions and the chapel. Additionally, you will contribute to the success of the college’s digital presence by providing technical support for podcasting and other media projects, ensuring all activities are captured and delivered with professional quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide lesson support for productions, performances, events and functions by designing and operating sound, light and projections, film; filming, recording, editing and distributing end products 
  • Source music, sound effects & props, prepare cue points, recording & uploading files, and editing of footage
  • Maintain and operate lighting, sound, and production equipment
  • Assist in the setup and operation of audiovisual elements in theatres and the Chapel
  • Support multimedia projects, including podcasting and other digital media initiatives
  • Ensure all technical aspects of events are executed with professional quality
  • Collaborate with staff and students to enhance the use of technology in educational activities


What You Bring: 

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience of working in and operating a busy theatre that utilises a range of lighting, rigging, sound and visual effects
  • An accredited certificate from a registered school of Theatre/Drama/Performing Arts – is desirable
  • Elevated Work Platform certificate 
  • Qualifications and/or experience in health and safety, relevant to theatre operation
  • Proficiency with lighting, sound, and production equipment
  • Strong technical skills in audiovisual setup and operation
  • Experience with multimedia production, including podcasting and video projects
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively and supportively with staff and students
  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage diverse technical requirements
