Theatre Technician

West Gippsland Arts Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join their committed and dynamic technical team on a permanent part time basis to help deliver its theatre program.

About the Role

As part of the core technical team, you will play a key role in delivering the theatre program of West Gippsland Arts Centre. Primary responsibilities will include setting up and packing down of technical equipment for events, supervising the day-to-day operation of events and presentations in the theatre, liaising directly with touring production personnel and community users, and operating and maintaining the venue’s technical equipment including lighting and audio consoles and stage mechanics.

About the Successful Candidate

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Relevant qualification and/or several years’ experience working in the technical department of a professional theatre or performing arts facility
  • Well developed skills in the areas of lighting, audio and stage mechanics
  • The ability to lead and supervise users of the venue, including clients, casual technicians and volunteers to gain the best possible outcomes.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required.
