Theatre Technician

Council is seeking to appoint a Casual Theatre Technician to contribute to Council’s success.

Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) is the hub for entertainment in the Gladstone CBD and is Central Queensland’s premier Events and Entertainment venue. One look at our website and you will notice an action-packed year of wonderful shows and events.

Right now, you have an opportunity to become one of the behind-the-scenes people who make the magic happen.

Working with GECC’s technical team you will get to contribute to council-supported external events and daily operations at the GECC.  

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to provide effective and efficient technical, operations and maintenance support and advice to venue hirers, Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) and the broader Arts & Entertainment team, in order to deliver quality productions for hirers, patrons, organisations and residents of the Gladstone region.

Essential criteria

1. Demonstrated high level of customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, to engage with a diverse client base.

2. Problem-solving skills to effectively address technical matters prior to escalating to the Supervisor.

3. Previous relevant experience working in a Theatre or Convention Centre or demonstrable skills operating lighting, sound and audio-visual equipment for stage productions.

4. Must be eligible and willing to obtain a positive notice Working with Children Blue Card on appointment.

5. Legally able to drive a manual motor vehicle in Queensland.

6. Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.

7. Must be eligible and willing to obtain on appointment, a positive notice Working with Children Blue Card.
