Theatre Technician

As the Theatre Technician, you will work under the coordination of the Senior Theatre Technician and be responsible for the safe and efficient bump in, operation and bump out of client performances and events.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Liaise with the Production and Technical Services Coordinator to ensure all client requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner
  • Bump in and bump out of clients’ shows and events
  • Provide safe set up and operation of technical systems and stage machinery where required
  • Participate in theatrical cues where required

About You

You will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, paired with the ability to work competently within a fast-paced, busy environment in conditions such as noise, heights and dark/dim/absence of lighting. You will also have the ability to undertake manual handling of heavy items and equipment and a proven ability to work effectively within a team. In addition, you will have flexible availability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • Experience in a relevant discipline, ideally in the area of performing arts or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Reasonable knowledge of and experience in preparing, setting up, testing and operating professional sound, vision and lighting equipment within a live production and events environment according to training and expertise
  • Experience in the basic repair and maintenance of production equipment
  • Reasonable understanding of Health & Safety within a live production and event environment
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software
