Karralyka, the premier theatre and function centre in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs currently has an exciting opportunity to join their Technical team.
We currently have an opening for an experienced theatre technician to join our Technical team. This is a part-time 22.5 hours, 18-month contract with varying hours that will commence immediately with the availability to work in a flexible roster.
This role is responsible for ensuring quality delivery of all technical services in the theatre, including but not limited to operation of lighting, sound, and mechanical flies systems. Successful applicants will also maintain high standards of OH&S, safety, customer relations and conduct in accordance with policies, procedures and the directions of the technical co-ordinator and supervisors.
They will be based primarily in the theatre but may on occasion be called upon to work in the function centres or other external venues as a Karralyka live performance technician.
The successful candidate must have:
• Certificate IV / Associate Diploma in Technical Theatre Studies or equivalent qualification
• Demonstrated experience in technical aspects of the role, including aptitude with sound and lighting desks, basic AV equipment, and understand core concepts of putting on a show.
• An excellent work ethic and be a strong team player with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently while still offering excellent customer service.
• Demonstrated experience as an independent operator of a technical department.
• You must and be able to work a variety of hours including weekends as required and provide assistance with leave cover.
